Brown is the heart of the Tiki Techs. He is our first mentor, helping launch the 3880 Tiki Techs in 2011. He is always around and always here to help. Winning teacher of the year in 2021 and FRC Woody Flowers in 2016.
Weir is a dedicated mentor for the Tiki Techs. With industry experience in manufacturing and a passion for hands-on education, he brings real-world knowledge into the team. Weir is known for his trademark phrase, "What an opportunity," which reflects his commitment to helping students seize every moment to grow, create, and lead. Mr.Weir also represented the Tiki Techs as our Woody Flowers finalist in the 2025 FRC season!
Noelle is a experienced program manager at Amazon, and has a strong background in mentoring early-career engineers, supporting community engagement, and promoting equity in tech. Noelle also has experience in technical writing, proposal development, interviewing, and professional communication, skills that offer students valuable insight into real-world industry standard and career pathways.
Makoto, an IT professional with the Hawaii Department of Education since 2011, fosters growth and success by generously opening the shop during off-hours. His willingness to go above and beyond exemplifies the highest qualities of teamwork and dedication. A steadfast pillar of support for his community. Makoto's contributions are both invaluble and sincerely appreciated.
Rocco is the last person you would expect to see helping in a STEM environment. He has a background in philosophy, languages, marketing, and is a Tiki Tech parent as well. He helps us around the shop, giving helpful insight into all of our projects and ideas. Rocco is very encouraging and incredibly kind to all of the Tiki Techs and we always appreciate when he is at the shop.
Uncle Jon is an essential part of our team. He is a mentor who always goes above and beyond for our students in and outside of the shop. He has a background in construction, and he supports the team by tackling shop projects with precision and care. Whether it's building field elements, chaperoning trips, or staying for late-night work sessions, Uncle Jon is always there. His unwavering dedication and selfless commitment have been instrumental in driving the team's success and fostering a supportive, inspring environment for every student.
Michelle is a Principal Applications Engineer at NXP Semiconductors with deep expertise in embedded systems, including processors, DSPs, and RTOS platforms. She brings decades of industry experience to the team, offering mentorship in hardware/software integration and product development. Michelle plays a key role in helping students apply engineering concepts to real-world challenges.
Doug, a skilled builder and AC contractor, is a hands-on mentor for our robotics team. With experience in home construction, car repair, and real-world problem solving, he teachs students practical skills and helps tackle tough challenges. A natural teacher, Doug's calm, supportive approach inspires future engineers every day.
